Abstract

Abstract Dermatophytosis is azoonotic disease caused by fungi belonging to the genus dermatophyta, known as ringworm disease in animals. This disease is caused by a fungus known as Microsporum canis. Cats are carnivorous animals and small predators that are included in crepuscular mammals that have been tamed by humans. Microsporum canis can be transmitted to human directly in indirectly , direct transmission can occur throughskin contact with infected animals and indirectly through infected animal bedding. The purpose of this study was to identify Microsporum canis and other fungi that cause ringworm on the skin of wild cats in the Pramuka street area. The method in this study used descriptive method, using purposive sampling technique, the sample used was 10 skin scrapings of wild cats, the variable in this study was the Microsporum canis fungus, the instrument used was microscopic and used data processing techniques codding, tabulating, analysis data. The result of a study of skin scrapings from wild cats in the Pramuka street area showed that 10 sample of skin scrapings from wild cats were negative Microaporum canis but other fungal genera were identified . sugesstions to the public are expected to pay attention to environmental cleanliness so that cats avoid infections caused bay wild cats which can be transmitted to humans.
