This study aimed to determine the relationship between the duration of suffering from type 2 diabetes mellitus and urea levels in patients at Sidomulyo Health Center Samarinda. This research used an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 40 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were sampled. Urea levels were measured using the enzymatic spectrophotometry method and analyzed with the Chi-Square test. The results showed that patients with more than 5 years of type 2 diabetes mellitus had higher urea levels (>45 mg/dL). The statistical test showed a significant relationship (p < 0.05). It can be concluded that the duration of type 2 diabetes mellitus is significantly associated with increased urea levels, and regular kidney function monitoring is highly recommended.
