Potensi Air Limbah Untuk Didaur Ulang Sebagai Air Baku Pertanian (Studi Kasus Beberapa Industri Dan Domestik)

Abstract

Krisis air baku yang diakibatkan kekeringan dan pencemaran telah mengakibatkan berkurangnya pasokan air pertanian sehingga dapat mengancam ketahanan pangan. Konsep 3R (reduce, recycle, reuse) melalui daur ulang air limbah untuk sumber air baku pertanian merupakan salah satu alternatif dalam mengatasi kekurangan pasokan air baku tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan informasi awal tentang potensi beberapa jenis air limbah dari efluen instalasi pengolahan air limbah (IPAL) domestik dan beberapa industri untuk didaur ulang sebagi air baku pertanian dalam upaya pendayagunaan sumber air. Penelitian potensi air limbah sebagai air baku pertanian dilakukan secara deskriptif menggunakan metode survei. Parameter kualitas air limbah yang diuji seperti yang tercantum dalam persyaratan air irigasi menurut Food and Agriculture Organization. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tentang kecukupan kuantitas air limbah dan kelayakan kualitasnya sebagai air irigasi, dari sembilan jenis air limbah yang diteliti, empat diantaranya berpotensi sebagai sumber air baku pertanian. Jenis air limbah tersebut adalah air limbah domestik, industri makanan (biskuit), industri pengolahan susu produk susu cair, industri kertas dan industri gula tebu.
